Here are the three candidates running to fill the office of one Commissioner on September 15, 2020 and a few comments in their own words.
Freiderikos Alexander Franke
I am running for election as a Commissioner for the town of Oxford.
I consider myself fortunate to live in this beautiful town, I called it “the little paradise”. As a homeowner I have invested in the Town, which is important to me.
Did my studies in engineering in Germany and have lived in France, Greece, Switzerland and the United States. I moved here two years ago from San Francisco, California and speak four languages. I was very lucky to find Oxford and spend the rest of my life here. Oxford is the home I was looking for.
In March I became a proud American citizen and I believe that if I become a Commissioner, it would be my way to give back to the community in the best way I can.
Oxford is a beautiful, safe town but most importantly it has wonderful people. My intentions are to help keep it that way. I will represent your best interests with integrity, honesty and vision. I will treat everyone with dignity and respect, whether we agree on an issue or not.
I am not a politician, not endorsed by any political party and I don’t want to introduce politics and divisions in Oxford. I like unity. We are all Americans. I will be a servant who will listen, work hard and be here for you. I love Oxford and I care.
My experience in management as a successful general manager for 15 years, in the automobile industry, will contribute in not only handling, but effectively solving the Town’s issues. I am looking forward to working with the other Commissioners as a team for your best interests.
If you elect me, I will give my best to keep our Town of Oxford as it is, “Our little place of paradise” !
Sincerely Yours, Freiderikos Alexander Franke
An Oxford resident since 1997, Jimmy has dedicated much of his life to serving the Oxford community and the Eastern Shore as a whole.
“Oxford has always had a special place in my heart. After moving here from Philadelphia as a child, my family and I immersed ourselves in the community. I grew up playing t-ball at the old Oxford baseball field, was a camper at Oxford Kids Camp, and worked for several local businesses including The Oxford Inn and the Oxford Bellevue Ferry,” Jimmy explains.
These experiences cultivated deep-seated relationships with many locals and the community of Oxford that continue to exist today. Kathy Radcliffe, former Oxford Town Commissioner said, “I’ve known Jimmy and his family for twenty years. He exhibits integrity and good judgment. The best interests of the community are in his heart. Be sure and vote for this outstanding young man on September 15th!”
Jimmy has extensive experience in the political arena, including aiding Delegate Johnny Mautz in his 2018 re-election campaign, as well as working with Senator Richard F. Colburn in Annapolis. Additionally, Jimmy has been a staunch voice for the residents of Oxford at town meetings, county council meetings, and testifying in front of several committees in Annapolis. Carole Abruzzese, the former Oxford Town Commissioner, said “I have had the pleasure of knowing Jimmy for many years. His passion for public service is admirable and he has always been a voice for the community. Jimmy’s energy and excitement are exactly what this town needs.”
“If elected, I will focus on the issues that matter to my community. I will continue to advocate for watermen, agriculture, and small businesses in Oxford. I’ve spent the majority of my life as an Oxford resident. I have a deep understanding and passion for this small town that I have had the privilege to call home. I hope to have the honor of serving Oxford in this new role,” said Jimmy.
The election will take place on September 15th at the Oxford Town Hall. Jimmy encourages voters to exercise their right to vote on election day.
