Oxford Central Park Improvements

Improvements to the old Little League Field were proposed in 2019, to develop a  central gathering area with outdoor recreational facilities, potentially including bocce ball, chess, corn hole, table tennis, and picnicking areas. Excavation work incorporating stormwater ponds and plantings of trees and shrubs was completed in 2021 to create a pleasant surrounding and improve stormwater retention for the area.

Currently a local Boy Scout and his team are rehabilitating the Little League Dugouts (saved as reminder of the fields historic use as a Ball Field), the concession stand, and the storage building as his Eagle Scout Project.

With funding through the Maryland DNR Community Parks and Playground Program, recreational activities will be added to this park as demonstrated on this “rough” park rendition: Park Rendition
