COMPRENSIVE PLAN UPDATE – OPEN HOUSE – May 17, 2023
The Planning Commission is currently working on the Update to the Oxford Comprehensive Plan. The current focus is on designation of Future Growth Areas for extension of Water and Sewer Services through Annexation.
A Public Open House will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 101 Market Street to allow for review of the proposed mapping options developed during the planning process, to provide information regarding the proposed mapping, and to solicit public input regarding the mapping alternatives.
Planning Commission Members and the Town Planner will be available to speak with the public on an individual basis in an Open House setting between the hours of:
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The following maps have been prepared to look at the Options for Future Growth Areas for extension of Water and Sewer Services through Annexation and will be on display at the town building May 17, 2023 and are available for comment:
WATER AND SEWER OPTION O1 LIMITED EXPANSION
This option takes into consideration already built parcels that may seek annexation due to failed septic and allows for some limited development.
WATER AND SEWER OPTION O2 CURRENT COUNTY DESIGNATIONS
This option demonstrates the current Talbot County parcels identified for extension of Water and Sewer.
WATER AND SEWER OPTION O3 NO EXPANSION
This option considers no expansion outside of the current boundary.
WATER AND SEWER OPTION O4 PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION
This option accounts for already built parcels that may seek annexation due to failed or failing septic. This option was chosen by the Planning Commission as their preference.

The Oxford Planning Commission will be reviewing and drafting an update to the Oxford Comprehensive Plan 2010 over the next six months. Information will be provided here as they review the existing document, along with any Planning Commission meeting dates, scheduled Public Workshops, and Public Hearings.
The Planning Commission regular meeting night is the first Tuesday of each month at 6 pm, and when time permits review discussion will follow the regular business. Additional work sessions have been scheduled for the following dates: January 26, 2023, February 23, 2023, and April 26, 2023 – these Work Sessions start at 10 am. A public meeting will be scheduled in May to go over the preliminary discovery.
Following the Planning Commission review and the creation of a draft document, the draft will be available here and a formal Public Hearing will be scheduled.
Once approved by the Planning Commission, the drafted update will be forwarded to the Town Commissioners for their review, a final Public Hearing and potential adoption, with an intended completion date prior to the end of 2023.
